Nerd Block Classic March 2015 Unboxing and Review [SPOILER]

This is what I got in the March 2015 Nerd Block Classic theme "Simon Says":

T-Shirt: Shaun of the Dead "A Slice of Fried Gold"

First up is the t-shirt, it is a Shaun of the Dead t-shirt in honour of Simon Pegg which is the theme of this month's Nerd Block. It is black and says "A slice of fried gold" on it with Shaun holding a beer.

Value: $15-$20 (currently prices are $25, but I don't think it is worth that much)

Guardians of the Galaxy Nesting Dolls (6 pieces)

The next item is the exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy nesting dolls. There is 6 in total. Starting from largest to smallest: Groot, Grax the Destroyers, Star Lord, Gamora, Rockets Racoon, and Dancing Baby Groot. They said there would be a dancing baby groot in the block so this most be what they meant by it.

Value: $5 based on what sold for Marvel Nesting Dolls on Ebay.

Guardians of the Galaxy Groot Magnet

I received the Groot Magnet in this pack. It is ceramic it is actually a type of rubber, so won't break easily. The other magnets that you could have received were the Star-Lord or Rocket Racoon.

Value: $7 for what I could find that ships to Canada.

KidRobot Multicolor Micro RAFFY DIY Toy 2.5-Inch

As mentioned in my spoiler post there was going to be a KidRobot item in the box and I received the Raffy 2.5inch multicolor edition munny. There was also the possibility of receiving these items as well: Munny, Trikky or Foomi.

Value: $10 from KidRobot on Amazon

Mr. J's April Fools Kit

Mr. J's April Fool's Kit is actually a nice touch for them recognizing the next month coming up. Kids could have fun with this, One item is Mr. Freeze related item of two flies in ice cubes you can place in someones drink. The other is a classic whoopie cushion which features Harley Quinn riding a bomb with the words "Drop the Bomb" on it.

Value: $10 only one up for sale, I would say more like $5-$7

Book: Simon Pegg's Nerd Do Well

Last but not least is Simon Pegg's book Nerd Do Well: A Small Boy's Journey to Becoming a Big Kid paperback. They mentioned they were going to start putting more reading material in and this is kind of nice. I wouldn't mine reading through the book, it has some good pictures of Simon Pegg with other celebrities and should be a good read. If you are not a fan of him I could see this being a turn off for sure.

Value: $10-$15 on Amazon right now.

So this month's Nerd Block is roughly worth: $57 if items sold for all new prices. That is actually a pretty sweet deal for a $20 box. Really it cost $28 when you count shipping so I at least got my money worth. The prices might go up or down once more people get their boxes but because of the exclusive items it will mostly depend on the Nerd Block subscribers to set the price and collectors to say what is too much.

Let me know what you think of this month's Nerd Block below.

Also if you are interested in April's Spoilers I received a spoiler in the Nerd Block as well which I will update the April Spoiler post at the link here: Nerd Block Classic April Preview [SPOILERS]

Nerd Block Shipping & Cost

Nerd Block's Shipping and the cost of the monthly subscription will be highlighted in this post.

I will start off with a break down of what it cost me for the Nerd Block Classic for a 3 month subscription:

Block: Nerd Block Classic (3 months): $48.58
Shipping to Canada (3 months): $26.25
Tax: $9.72
Total: $84.55CAD

Price per Block Shipped: $28.18CAD

So I am hoping to find items worth more than $28.18 in these boxes to make it worth while. I live in Ontario, so I'm sure the price is the same for anywhere in Canada to be shipped. I'm also taxed because I live in Canada which I would assume USA would not be taxed.

I received a discount for paying for 3 months as well which is 10% off the blocks. Then an additional 10% off that price for using promo code SUPERHERP. Which brought the price from $17.99 per block to $16.19 per block.

All the above prices are in Canadian dollars.

I will do my best to figure out shipping and price to USA as well and will post it below once I know it.

However with the US dollar being so much higher than the Canadian dollar it might be worth getting a year's subscription. As of today it would be 26% off just with the currency conversion and you can use a 10% off promo code and take the 20% off from a years subscription. Must be nice living in the USA. =)

To sign up go to www.nerdblock.com and use Promo Code SUPERHERP for 10% off.

Comment below and tell me your cost to help others out!

Loot Crate March 2015 Theme and Spoilers

Loot Crate March 2015 Theme and Spoilers will be listed in this post. If you do not want to know about this month's items please do not read any further.

If you haven't signed up for Loot Crate yet, please follow the link:  You can also get 12% off any subscription plan by using the Loot Crate promo code 12OFF.

This month's Loot Crate Theme is Covert. Which means this box items should relate to anything to do with spies, undercover agents, deadly femme fatales and more.

Not for sure going to be in the crate but is a possibility of it being this item.

There will be an exclusive and licensed collectible item from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in this box. It will also come with a certificate of authenticity. I've done some searching and it looks like it most likely will be a replica badge.

Orphan Black will also have an item in this block, which is supposed to be exclusive to Loot Crate. Not sure yet as to what this item could be but keep posted for more information.

A t-shirt will be in this block as well. No details as to what it will look like but will have a theme of covert I'm sure.

There is also going to be a childhood gadget of some sorts in this box.

UPDATE: 2015-03-17

There will be 30 people getting a mini Mega Crate this month from Loot Crate. Inside will be a plush Archer Sterling and How to Archer: The Ultimate Guide to Espionage book.

To summarize what we know:

  • Exclusive Collectible Item from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with certificate of authenticity. (Most likely a badge replica)
  • Exclusive Orphan Black Item
  • T-Shirt
  • A gadget of some sort.
  • All together there is going to be 5 items
  • 30 people will win the Archer mini Mega Crate

Nerd Block Classic March 2015 Preview & Somewhat Spoilers

Before I start I want to make it clear that there is a possibility of some spoilers below so please do not read on if you do not want any hints of what could be in your March 2015 Nerd Block Classic mystery box.

You can sign up for Nerd Block Classic here: www.nerdblock.com (use coupon code: SUPERHERP to get 10% off any subscription plan)

DEADLINE FOR MARCH NERD BLOCK CLASSIC IS TONIGHT AT 11:59PM EST.

So let's get to it. The main theme for this month's Nerd Block Classic is going to be Simon Pegg. They say that he has picked out the items. (Find that hard to believe) However it is going to be about him either way. They are calling it "Simon Says".

35 subscribers will get an item that his hand signed by Simon Pegg. Which if you are a big fan of him this might be the perfect gift to yourself this month.

Another item that will be in this box is a Kid Robot which would be a blank munny to draw on. LootCrate had this very item in their box last month, so many subscribers who subscribed to both are not very happy about it. Though for those who don't subscribe will be happy with it if you like to doodle. Nerd Block has also stated that it isn't exactly the same as LootCrate's munny.

Everyone will also be receiving an exclusive Dancing Baby Groot from the movie Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm not sure yet how small this Dancing Baby Groot is but I believe it would be about 2inches is my guess.

And last but not least Nerd Block has announced they will be adding more books to the future blocks. So you should be getting a book, t-shirt and 5 other items in the future, could even be starting with this block.

UPDATE: 2015-03-15

Nerd Block has announced that Nerd Play Cosplay trading cards will be in each Nerd Block Classic box through out the year which is only exclusive to Nerd Block.

Monster Block

One subscriber will win all these items:

  • Playstation Vita

  • Shaun of the Dead Pint Glass

Welcome To My First Blog =)

Hello Everyone,

I would like to start off and say thank you for reading this. Most people don't care about me and will only care about what I will be posting in the future. However I think I will take this time to introduce myself before we get into what I will be using this blog for.

I am a Canadian nerd that works in cancer research. I am an avid video game player and love collecting games and nerdy memorabilia. I practice web design but am not very good at it, however I keep going back to it to keep myself busy. (A site I am working on for fun: Video Games Universe (www.vgu.ca))

I am mostly into console games but I do play computer games as well. Currently been playing SWTOR (Star Wars: The Old Republic) and on console I have been playing a lot of indie games on Xbox One at the moment but I keep rotating between Wii U, PS4 and the Xbox One. I also love playing old consoles. My first console was the ColecoVision and I still play some of those games today.

So why am I creating a blog? Well I figure people need reviews on nerdy things and I know there is many out there. However a lot of the opinions are paid opinion pieces. I'm just your average hard working nerd that goes out and buys these things himself and wants to tell you about them. I will also point out other good reviewers that might interest you if your opinions match mine.

Things I have coming up to talk about:

  • Nerd Block Subscription Reviews (Use coupon code: SUPERHERP to get 10% off any subscription plan)
  • Horror Block Subscription Reviews (Use coupon code: SUPERHERP to get 10% off any subscription plan)
  • Arcade Block Subscription Reviews (Use coupon code: SUPERHERP to get 10% off any subscription plan)
  • Loot Crate Subscription Reviews (Use coupon code: 12OFF to get 12% off any subscription plan, it's the best deal I could find.)
  • Games
  • Sales for Games and Nerdy Things
  • and I may randomly talk about life in the lab.

If you have any questions please send them my way.

I hope you enjoy the future of this blog and I hope I can keep it updated regularly.

Scruffin
